TTSOpenAI is a website that offers unlimited free AI text to speech generation. The website is not owned or operated by OpenAI. However, it uses the OpenAI API to connect to the OpenAI and generate speech from text.
You can generate audio by entering text into a single prompt box, without logging in, although you’ll be limited to 500 characters per generation. Creating a free account and logging in extends this limit to allow up to 3,000 characters per generation.
The voices available are good quality and tend to be a professional style, rather than casual, and appear to be suited for audiobooks, corporate projects, and other uses that call for proper and professional spoken word rather than a casual and less-polished style.
Paid features include the Story Mode, which let’s you build out a conversation between multiple speakers or multiple lines by a single speaker on a single page. Additionally, the documents feature can convert an uploaded document, like a PDF or Word document, to speech.
Free users (like me) see ads on the pages of the website amongst the tools and settings. The ads aren’t obtrusive and do not employ trickery that would confuse the user into clicking an ad thinking they’re clicking on something related to their text-to-speech generation project.
